Hi! This is the development home of the Consumption Opportunities Project (Co-Op). No! This is not a website for public viewing just yet. Yes! It will be soon.
Co-Op is the project to clarify and sex-up the global challenge of 'sustainable consumption'.
Co-Op is unique in demonstrating three things about sustainable consumption:
- that it requires demand reduction not just impact reduction;
- that demand is caused across whole production-consumption systems, not just by consumer purchases;
- that serious opportunities exist, and it's not all boring or gloomy.
All individuals and organisations working towards sustainable consumption are invited to become involved. Here's how:
Read the Concept Proposal
Read the Consumption Opportunities report
(Or) Read the Summaries of the project's products
Read the Task List: the main tasks being
- to (help to) manage the project overall, including fundraise;
- to (help to) co-ordinate one of the three sub-projects (CO-OP, CLICK, ROCK);
- to (help to) co-ordinate one of the various subject areas (e.g. Functional Perspective, Efficient Consumption, Opportunity Partnerships, etc);
- to (help to) write/research material for CO-OP (chapters and boxes); CLICK (wiki articles and policy/information briefs); ROCK (wiki articles, concept/research area categorisation method, matching algorithm development and database implementation, tracking research and institutions and inviting submissions of mini-records, submitting and updating mini-records)
See the Network of Editors, Advisory Editors, and Members to see who is involved and who is doing what. If you don't see yourself on any of these lists, it's time to step out and get in. Don't be shy! (Everyone can be a member, so there's not much reason to not be involved, hey?)
Comment on the concept proposal, being specific and adding to its development, in the Orientation forum here
Say hello, ask your questions and make your comments - for example, what is going on?, how to get involved?, who you are, how your work relates to this...and expressions of delight and disagreement - in the general thread of the Orientation forum.
If you have grabbed your task, keep track of your own and others' progress at the Collaboration Site (and comment on the site in the Orientation forum here)
Go ahead, you know you want to: get stuck in right now and start writing or editing Wiki articles (list of topics and instructions on the homepage; these will form the basis of briefings in CLICK, and part of ROCK, and background material for to CO-OP).
